Fascinating Evolution of the U.S. Election

"The back and forth of the remaining presidential campaign will be fun to watch. Joe Biden will say a lot, but most of it will be meaningless. It will turn out to be a contest between who likes Barack Obama the most and who likes Sarah Palin the most. Sarah Palin is the huge wildcard and she will come under relentless attack from the Left."

At the End of the Democratic Convention

"With Obama and Biden now beginning a post-convention campaign tour, attention turns to the Republican convention which began on Monday in Minneapolis. It will be as orchestrated and charged affair as the Democrats' event, as the Republicans will work to reintroduce their candidates to the nation. Like the Democrats, they will seek to define the differences between the two Parties, inspire their faithful, present their agenda and inspire their base."

Palestinian Village Faces Army Reign of Terror

"The army has responded with tear gas and stun grenades, as well as on occasion, with rubber-coated steel bullets and live ammunition. Last month it was reported that Israel was also experimenting with a new crowd dispersal method called “skunk”, which involves firing a foul-smelling liquid at demonstrators."

Oh, No! Not Joe Biden!

Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) was a lousy pick to be Barack Obama’s VP running mate. Delaware only has three electoral votes. Plus, Biden doesn’t represent either the “politics of hope” and/or of change. His record in the U.S. Senate reveals someone who has gone along with the Iraq War, while doing little or nothing to protect the Constitutional Rights of the people from the excesses of the Bush-Cheney Gang. I suspect the Democratic Party has a death wish!

Zardari tightens his hold on Pakistan after resignation of Musharraf

"Zardari’s becoming president is a frightening prospect for a country that has witnessed repeated horrors at the hands of greedy feudal lords and ambitious generals. Zardari’s presidency would almost certainly be even worse than Musharraf’s."

Taming the Elephant: A lesson for Arab and Muslim Communities

"When there is a political challenge or crisis situation, the vast majority of the Arab and Muslim community (with a few notable exceptions) remains passive, resulting in little or nothing being done. This behavior contrasts strongly with the confidence and assertiveness of the Zionist community and their Christian Zionist allies. They speak out loudly and organize themselves in support of Israel, no matter what that country has done, how many laws it has broken, or crimes it has committed."

The evolving facts of life

"The Arab world appears to accept that Hamas is here to stay in Gaza and, at least as a political actor, in the West Bank as well. Hamas' relative success in enforcing the current ceasefire or "tahdiya" has helped persuade the Arabs that it can "deliver" on more than terrorism. Its recent pledge to Jordan to avoid meddling in internal state affairs, particularly in coordination with the local Muslim Brotherhood, and to refrain from planning terrorist operations from Jordan against Israel, is seen as at least temporarily credible."
